I just started using an app called vo rail, but when you search for it in the
app store, it's all one word. It only works on IOS unfortunately. It's
basically like an audio twitter. You ask a question, and people post their
answers. So for example, you can ask if anyone has ever had any
technology disasters, and other people would add their answer to your
question. You can also send private questions, and private messages if
the like is mutual. Like is the same thing as a follow on twitter. When the
follow is mutual, you can dm, If it isn't, then you can't dm but you can
mention. So a private question is like a reply on twitter. It is all voice. So
in order to get this, go to the app store and search for vorail. When you
open it you create an account which takes like 30 seconds. You don't
even need a password, so I wonder what you would do if you got a new
phone and you had to sign in because the new phone will not remember
your account. You can find me on there my username is Applegirl22. I

I actually am using roger which is kinda like what's app. but, that app sounds
cool too, Kristin. but, I like roger the best and to have another twitter... not
happening.
Sounds like an audio equivalent to SnapChat, an app the kids all seems to use. Not as a blind person I suspect. I know my daughter et al seem to use it.

Snapchat would be boring for us who cannot see. But for people who can, it's apparently quite fun at least for the millennials, and profitable for people trying to market themselves to millennials.
I used it, and I didn't really like it. its just as easy to swipe through tweets or facebook posts, and it uses less data than downloading and uploading audio recordings all the time. And to answer your question, the app is linked to your apple ID. so on every device you have it on that is connected to your apple ID it will use that account.
I have yet to use it, but I imagine the voice responses would do for us what pictures do for sighted people. Sure, they can read text as well as we can, but they enjoy seeing a picture of someone where they are.
A voice with ambient noise. I could see that. I used to like a lot of interesting things posted to AudioBoom.
It is nice to have an audio-only service, to be honest. And, since we all embrace pictures-only services like SnapChat and Instagram, why not audio-only?
Leo: as I understand it, that was the main idea behind the app. But since things like snapchat already exists, this was somewhat of a different take on a similar format.
Yeah I downloaded snapchat a few years ago. I was going to use it just for
audio and not video, but it's not accessible.
Yikyak is similar to Vorail but just for text. People stay anonymous, they can make short posts and others either vote up or down the post and can reply anonymously. It is geo based.
Re post 2, it's not very nice to use Roger. He's quite upset about being used and
his feelings are hurt.
I always thought Roger kinda swung that way and liked to be used / dominated. Not that I'd know ... just heard about some things.
Apple, Snapchat is largely photos and video, my daughter and them all use it. I've enjoyed VoRail thus far. Will have to try Yikyak and see what it's like.
What I like is hearing other people rather than just reading the text. The voice, I think, is to us what a picture would be for someone sighted.

I like how vorail is all voice. If it was all text, it basically would be like having
another facebook. I had snapchat, but it's not accessible with voice over. I
asked on facebook several years ago is snapchat was accessible with voice
over, and one of my sighted fb friends said I don't see anything about a voice
on snapchat. I thought that was kind of funny. I didn't bother explaining
what I was really talking about; it probably would have been a waste of time.
Yikyak currently doesn't read incoming messages. I sent a message to them and they said they're aware of it. Looks like an interesting idea, if'n we could actually use it. Odd to see a text app not accessible.
Oh I haven't used it for a while but at the start of the year, it seemed fine.

YikYak's last update turned accessibility into absolute nothingness. Before that, it was great. The app isn't overly busy unless you are on a college campus.
What a shame; wonder if the developpers care about accessibility if they heard about it?
There's no need to delete the app if someone is causing drama.
The developers gave us the tools necessary to avoid those people, and now, threads.
I really don't know why people can't police themselves, don't like the drama?
Well the simple solution is to mute them.
One person is trolling the system, but a simple mute made him desappear.
I don't care about drama. I'm still on the app, and would have appreciated
hearing from Rachel too.
Yikyak developers know about the accessibility issues. I used their contact form
and they told me they're aware of it, but are looking into how to fix it.
I just got Vorail and have looked at it briefly, but I don't think it will hold my interest.
Evryn, I don't like your tone. There were other reasons why I deleted it, namely as I don't have time to use it as much as I was.
But the drama was the last straw, so get off your high horse!

its good, you just can't be afraid to use the mute button. I love people on there, drama drama drama, this person is always starting drama but they won't mute the person they are complaining about.

I love Vorail! I love the fact that it is completely voice based. I think its great for people who are much better at articulating themselves through speech rather than writing. I also think that you can get a better impression of someone by their voice. My user name on there is Aletea
Sometimes I'm a very articulate speaker and other times I can barely find the words I need to use fast enough to string together a sentence. I'd still like to give it a try.

A friend suggested that I get Roger or Vorail. He doesn't have either service (he still has a flip phone), but he knows people who use those apps and enjoy them. I downloaded Vorail yesterday and I like it so far. My username is Jessica926.

vorail is pretty much what the zone was in its prime. Drama with a few cool people and helpful board posts

incorrect. It was always pronounced at the outset as vorail for us. like ver-rail.

probably trying to think too much. I think it's an acronym. When we ask tom
early on, he couldn't remember it I think? voice something.
I've been on there since february of 2016 when it was literally 10 to 20 people
active, that was fun, now I am struggling if I should get off or stay on there.
